I never though I’d say this but winter has become my least favourite season all thanks to below freezing temperatures, ice cold feet and a frozen nose. the South Korean winter is harsh and I am now dependent on under floor heating, ice packs and the grace of sunshine, which I am extremely grateful for just by the way. My entire face has already started cracking and it’s literally just gone December. It’s going to be a long winter so I’ve taken out my holy grail skincare products to see me through it.
Let’s start with a cleanser.
The Innisfree olive oil range is by far my favourite range from the Korean roadshop brand. It’s really nourishing on the skin and I find the scent particularly calming. I tried the body lotion in this line as well and loved it. But it’s the oil cleanser that I keep on repurchasing. First of all, it removes all of my makeup, waterproof mascara included and is also really gentle on the skin. It doesn’t leave an oily film on the skin after you rinse it off and it just leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. I have only good things to say about it.
Serum & Overnight Mask
I think my winter skincare must be inspired by my travel skincare routine because this combo rescues my skin from long haul flights and it’s solid gold. The Hada Labo Goku-jyun Serum, which is a hyaluronic acid intensive serum, together with the Origins Drink up Intensive Overnight Mask is the best in flight treat I can ask for. And because it makes my skin so plump post flight, I thought why not incorporate it into my winter routine. I certainly need all the hydration I can get! I highly recommend these two products on their own but together, the mask performs so much better! And seeing that the dry patches have already taken up room on my face, I’d use this duo more frequently throughout the week than just as a weekend pamper routine. Clearly, I’m trying really hard to beat this cold winter air and the dry heat blasting from any heater anywhere inside this country.
Lips & Hands
Probably the two places I’d take extra care of this season as they are the first to crack so they do require a fair bit of nourishment. My most used lip balm is the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm. It’s honestly the best lip balm I’ve tried for my unfortunately dry, chapped lips. It keeps the lips well nourished so you don’t need to constantly be applying lip balm throughout the day. And because of this, it lasts a lot longer than other balms I’ve tried.
As for my hands, this Innisfree hand cream is my go-to. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue and absorbs into the skin quite quickly. I’m not an avid user of hand cream and I always use my skincare on my hands anyway, but in the winter season I need that extra bit of care and this one is rather nourishing so it helps a great deal. It also has a pleasant scent, which is not surprising, seeing as it is from the Olive Oil range at Innisfree. I must say, this range is so good I’d even recommend it as a gift this season. Albeit, not the most exciting gift by any means but hey, we could all use a bit of pampering this season.
A Nourishing Oil
I think oils are always a good investment come winter season, whether they be face oils, hair oils or in-shower body oils, you can’t go wrong with them. Finding the right oil for you can be something quite special as it becomes such a treat when you use it! My favourite oil is the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and I use it all year round, not only in the harsh winter months. I’ve seen such a difference in my skin that I can’t be without it now. I use it day or night, summer or winter, basically whenever my skin needs it and it works for me every time. I find it especially healing on troubled skin and so nourishing that the application itself is incredibly soothing and relaxing.
I apply it before my moisturiser, sometimes even before foundation to give my base an extra bit of glow and hydration. You can also mix it with the two for that very reason. It’s really multi functional and helps my skin get through tough times.
So that’s it for my winter skincare picks, hope you enjoyed this post! What are your favourite skincare products this season? Let me know in the comments below!
