Autumn in South Korea – The Best Time to Travel

The best time to visit Korea is now! Autumn has finally begun and the sunflower fields have graced us with its beauty. We are well in to flower festivals and soon our streets will be an array of autumnal hues, with brown, orange, yellow and red leaves creating a picturesque view. Seoul has an abundance of things to do but do not forget about Korea’s countryside. Korea’s natural landscape is something extraordinary this time of year and with cooling temperatures there’s no better time like the present. Unless you’re willing to wait until the end of April for the cherry blossoms to bloom. But why put pressure on getting the two week period of pinks and whites where you can get an entire month of fall in its glory. What are you waiting for?

Things to do in Seoul

There’s plenty of fall action happening in this concrete jungle. Check out Haneul Sky Park at World Cup Stadium station for your top of the world fall magic just waiting for you to gasp at it! It’s an incredibly beautiful scene, with fields of reeds waiting to shed its sliver hues on us. The fields are filled with a number of plant life and offers seoulites a wonderful escape from the city’s hustle. Its quiet and serene atmosphere will transport you to a place you probably only thought possible in films. This incredible picturesque landscape also overlooks the Han River which is another favourite spot of mine. This is a must see location in the fall season.

I highly recommend taking the ‘frog car’, which is a safari-like car that takes you up to the park. It’s a lot of fun! and you might just see some giant frogs on the way. If you plan on walking up all 291 steps to the top then good luck! I kid 🙂 If walking is more your thing then I’m sure the trek offers you an amazing city view. But a frog car! Come on!

If you’re interested to see what South Korea’s countryside looks like in autumn, please see my blog post Photo Journal – Yeongwol. The photos can only do so much. Experiencing nature like this holds a lot more meaning. I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading!

With love X
